Standard #2 Learning Differences
The teacher uses an understanding of individual
differences and diverse cultures and
communities to ensure inclusive learning
environments that allow each learner to reach
his/her full potential.
Artifact
The artifact above is a personal statement on how I will include equity or make sure that every student has the support they need to be successful when in my classroom. I talk about my own experiences with equity and what I have seen in classrooms that I have been in and I talk about what equity looks like and feels like in a classroom.
Equity is generally defined as the quality of being impartial and fair, , freedom from bias or favoritism, making sure every student has the support they need to be successful. To me equity is understanding the differences of all individuals in your classroom and working to educate the students by using their strengths and strengthening their weaknesses. The equity statement helped me see the difference between proper use of equity in the classroom and reflect on times when equity was scarce in a classroom that I was in. By the project strengthening my understanding and ways of implementing equity in the classroom I was able to better understand this standard, and the importance of ensuring an inclusive learning environment that allows each learner to reach their full potential.
This summative is meant to assess kids based on their understanding of gravity and how it affects other celestial bodies. This assessment meets kids in all areas of development due to the freedom the students have to show gravitational relationship between two celestial bodies. Many students made physical models, animations, presentations, verbal presentations, posters, and pictures/drawings. Kids were able to create a project based on their strengths and interests while still sticking to rigorous guidelines.

Several artifacts are linked above to show a lesson plan that spans 2-3 school days. In those days, students will engage in hands-on note taking activities, an interactive presentation, digital flashcards, and review games (via Quizlet Live). This is designed throughout a unit to adapt a lesson to multiple students preferred learning styles. This is a more unique set up as differentiation occurs over several days as opposed to the more traditional one lesson school day. Teachers can manipulate this set up to have several of these learning styles occur in one day if they prefer. Overall, multiple learning types over the span of several school days still allows students to learn from their preferred learning style and differentiates the lesson enough to engage a multitude of students.
